Life of a Medical Student's Wife

As the first year of Aaron's medical school draws to a close, I see less and less of that kid. So, I have found a few new hobbies to fill my alone time. Designing and sewing my little girl clothing is my new favorite hobby. I only started sewing clothing a few months ago after being inspired by so many talented friends. The reason for this post is that I was excited to learn that I am to be featured on the Baby Night Night Botique! I will be featured this coming weekend (May 22nd) so be sure to check out the Baby Night Night Botique blog then! I've been busy sewing this week and here is what I have to show for it:

As a side note, these are all original designs by me, I never used a pattern for the outfits. The only pattern I used was for the baby booties. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Happy Birthday Eva Dear!

That's right! Our baby celebrated her first birthday last week. Honestly, I'm still getting over the "mother" thing, and now I have a one year old... How time flies when you are having FUN! And fun it is! Aaron and I love being parents of this wild and full of life little girl. During her first 365 days we never experienced a dull moment. What a blessing she is to our family.
We celebrated a Hawaiian Luau in honor of Eva at a local splash park. Eva invited all of her friends (a.k.a Dad's and Mom's friends who have kids) to join her during this monumental event. We had Hawaiian haystacks, Hawaiian pizza, and fresh fruit to feast on for dinner. Then we all headed over to the splash park to "cool off." Of course Eva had to have a blow-out in her swimsuit right before the party started. Thus the naked baby running around in the pictures. Eva had a blast! She just ran around on her own, loving the water. She didn't stop until her lips started chattering. So we rescued her with a towel. Too bad her towel got Hawaiian haystack sauce poured on it...we used a clean rag instead.

Then the party headed back to the tables for dessert and gift opening.
For dessert we ate a fabulous custom cake. My talented friend make it for Eva. Check out her blog to see more of her creations. Thanks Amy! Then we opened gifts. Eva made a steal in clothing! It was great. Thanks everyone for coming! We appreciate your love, support, and friendship. Thanks to all Eva's grandparents as well. We really appreciate your thoughtfulness. And one last shout out to Natalie and Charles, thanks for Eva's early birthday gift! We loved seeing you guys!

Our Fine Twined Linen

This year's Easter gear is brought to you by Jodi. This package includes Jodi's skirt, Aaron's tie, and Eva's dress and booties. Thanks to my father who provided the financial backing and my mother who got me started sewing my skirt. I grew up in a home where my mother sewed us girlies new matching dresses every year for Easter. Never thought that I would carry on the tradition, but I just had way too much fun.

It's been a wonderful day full of sugar, general conference, and my fabulous family. Probably my three favorite things. I made matching outfits for the whole family. I will unveil Aaron and my gear at a later post, but check out Eva's dress. Can you believe I made that dress with no pattern? Me neither. Turned out way cuter than expected. Eva says thanks Grandma Croft and Grandma Dahlin for the darling clothes and things and Daddy for the bunny. Thanks Heather for putting on a fun party too. It's been a great day.
